Vintage 19th to early 20th-century "Bennington" style brown mineral porcelain doorknob.
 
Often referred to by collectors as "Bennington" or "Rockingham" glaze doorknobs, these feature a distinct mottled, swirling brown-and-tan tortoiseshell pattern produced by adding manganese to the glaze before firing.
 
These utilitarian antique hardware pieces are widely collected for period-accurate home restoration projects.
 
 
Identification Features
 
 
Material: True mineral porcelain, which is cold to the touch and heavy compared to lighter, late-era imitation materials like brown Bakelite or plastic.
 
Base Stem: Features a cast iron or brass collar base meant to be clamped to a square metal spindle using small set screws. White paint residue around the base rim is a very common indicator of an authentic architectural salvage piece.
 
It has a maximum diameter of 5.4cm and height of 4.3cm including the stem.  The stem has a diameter of 1.5cm. 
 
 
Please be aware that this is a vintage item, so it will have surface markings befitting years of use.
