A vintage Bessemer cast aluminium pan featuring its classic heavy-base construction, integrated side handle, and high-dome lid with a characteristic phenolic plastic (Bakelite) knob.
 
Material: Premium heavy-gauge cast aluminium (designed to mimic the heat retention of cast iron but at a lighter weight).
 
The Logo: The central stylized "B" insignia stamped inside the concentric heat-distribution rings is the signature identifier for classic Bessemer Australia cookware.
 
Cooking Feature: The thick base design works with the heavy lid to create a patented "Oven-Effect", allowing users to bake cakes, pizzas, or roasts directly on the stovetop.
 
 
🍳 Cookware Care & Maintenance
 
To preserve the internal non-stick coating of your vintage Bessemer piece, adhere to these essential handling guidelines:
 
Hand Wash Only: Never place vintage Bessemer in a dishwasher. Wash using warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
 
No Metal Utensils: Use only wooden, plastic, or silicone tools to prevent scratching the interior.
 
Avoid High Heat: Always cook on low-to-medium stovetop settings. Because the heavy cast aluminium distributes heat exceptionally well, high heat will damage the non-stick surface.
 
Regular Conditioning: To maintain food release properties, rub a drop of cooking oil onto the inner surface, heat gently on the stove until "touch hot", then wipe clean.
 
Note - it is not suitable for induction cooktops without a converter plate underneath it. 
 
It has a top diameter of 24.6cm, a wall height of 6cm and a base diameter of 20.6cm. 
 
The interior has some markings. I dont know if the knob is missing a base or if it was designed to sit up above the lid.
