Vintage plastic swizzle sticks (or drink stirring sticks) issued by The Pilot Tavern, a famous historic bar in Toronto, Ontario.

About These Stirring Sticks

The Design: The moulded plastic figures depict a World War II-era aviator or pilot, complete with a flight cap, goggles, and boots.

The Slogan: The back of these figures typically reads "The Pilot Tavern". They were distributed to patrons in their cocktails during the mid-20th century (predominantly the 1950s and 1960s).

History of The Pilot Tavern

Origin: The Pilot was originally founded in 1944 at 800 Yonge Street. It was intentionally named to honour the heroic Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) flyers of World War II.

Legacy: It served as a legendary mid-century watering hole for famous artists, musicians, and writers like Leonard Cohen. In 1972, it relocated around the corner to Cumberland Street in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood, where it still operates today.

Because of the bar's deep history, these pilot-shaped stir sticks are highly sought-after nostalgic collectibles for vintage barware enthusiasts.

It measures 15.3cm in length and 2.9cm in width.
