Vintage Shungyo "Flamec Cooker" stoneware saucepan.

Collectible Japanese mid-century modern (MCM) cooking vessel.

The smooth, matte beige glaze is uniform across the cooking surface, and the handle features distinct moulded scrollwork accents where it meets the main body of the pan.

The circular stamp explicitly marks it as "Oven Proof" and "Flame Proof," meaning this mid-century ceramic piece was engineered to handle both standard oven heat and direct flame on a gas or electric stovetop.

No Induction: This is solid ceramic stoneware and does not contain ferrous metal, meaning it will not work on modern induction stovetops unless you use a separate induction interface disk.

Care Instructions for Vintage Flameproof Stoneware

Even though the bottom is stamped "Flame Proof," vintage earthenware can easily crack from thermal shock. To protect it, avoid placing a freezing cold pot onto a hot burner or running cold water over it immediately after cooking.

It has a top diameter of 17.4cm and a height of 9.1cm. The handle has a length of 11.2cm and maximum width of 4.7cm.

It has only very minimual markings - handle and lid predominantly. It looks as if it has never been used to cook anything. The pattern is well-preserved.

A great find in great condition.
