Vintage Mustard pot with lid and spoon
 
 
This delightful small mustard jar with lid is pewter.
 
Identification & Features
Design & Texture: It features the classic hand-beaten, faceted hammered texture that Royal Selangor popularised during the mid-20th century. 
 
Cruet Component: The lid is intentionally designed with a slight indentation or notch right by the rim. This cutout allowed a small pewter spoon to rest inside the container while the lid remained securely closed.
 
Historical Context: Based on the distinctive barrel shape and patina, this piece likely dates between 1942 and 1963 when the company stamped its wares as "Selangor Malaya Pewter" (prior to Malaysia's formation and before they received the "Royal" royal warrant title in 1992).
 
The base of this item features the hallmark stamp of Selangor Pewter, a well-known manufacturer from Malaysia. 
 
Hallmark Details
Logo/Mark: Displays the traditional touchmark badge showing a balancing figure/centaur or traditional touchmark design with surrounding text.
 
It stands 5cm tall and has a base diameter of 3.1cm. The maximum diameter is 4.2cm approx.
 
It is in good vintage condition. It has tarnishing. I dont know how well it would polish up.
