Embroidery South Africa Mary Gostelow
Mary went on a fact finding mission to South Africa and was so impressed by the embroidery she saw she wrote a book on it. This is a survey from the era of the Voortrekkers to the present day. it also describes techniques for applique, assisi work, beadwork, blackwork, canvas work, chain stitch work, crewel work, cutwork, Dorset feather stitchery, drawn thread work, Florentine (Bargello), Hardanger, metal thread embroidery, needle-lace, needleweaving, needlework tapestry, net embroidery, patchwork, pulled thread work, quilting, shadow embroidery, sorbello, whitework and woolwork. stitch diagrams are included where appropriate.
