Kitchen Toolery, Kitchen Utensil Holder, Utensil Caddy
This utensil crock is a classic piece of Yarra Glen Pottery, specifically from their collaborative production run with Australian Clayworkers.
The Story Behind the Pottery
The Brand: Yarra Glen Pottery was established in the mid-1980s by Sharon Harris in Brisbane, Queensland. It was highly successful through the late 1980s and 1990s, producing a vast range of functional kitchen stoneware.
The Manufacturer: To keep up with massive demand at its peak, the company partnered with a production house called Meldar Pty Ltd (operating out of Yatala, QLD), which traded under the name Australian Clayworkers.
The Markings: If you turn this crock over, the base will almost certainly feature their distinct stamped or printed mark: “Handcrafted for Yarra Glen by Australian Clayworkers”.
This specific design—featuring the warm, earthy tan speckled glaze accented with dark brown hand-painted gum leaves and golden blossoms—is one of their most iconic country-style kitchenware motifs from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
This ceramic utensil caddy stands 16.4cm tall. It has a base diameter of 13.4cm and top diameter of 13.8cm.
It does not have any major chips or cracks. It is in good vintage condition with some markings.
