Wild & Wolf TrimPhone, a retro-styled landline phone with push buttons

Key Features

Modern Internals: Operates on standard analog landline connections with authentic mechanical ringers.

Convenience Settings: Includes earpiece and ringer volume controls, along with a tone/pulse switch.

Design: Compact, lightweight body that rests beautifully on a desk or a bedside table.

The Wild & Wolf phone itself is not a true vintage item; it is a modern reproduction made in the late 2000s and 2010s.

Chronology of the Design

The Original (1970s): The shape and name are based entirely on the GPO Trimphone, which was originally designed in the 1960s and achieved mass popularity throughout the 1970s. Genuine vintage models from this era feature rotary dials or early, rigid square buttons and ancient internal wiring. The Wild & Wolf Version (2000s–2010s):

The UK gift and lifestyle brand Wild & Wolf was founded in 2005. They began manufacturing their retro-replica phone lines (including the Trimphone and the 746-style desktop models) around 2008 to 2012.

While it looks exactly like a 50-year-old mid-century masterpiece, the phone on your desk is a contemporary replica built with modern plastic, digital push-buttons, and a modern phone jack.

It has measurements of 19.7cm x 10.cm and a height of 8.6cm approximately with the handset in place.

The handset measures 20.1cm x 4.5cm x 8.1cm.

It is made in China.

It has the usual marks and scratches of a preloved phone. It does not have any chips or cracks. The buttons all seem to work smoothly. It has the number for the UK emergency services written on it so I would assume it is the UK model.

I plugged it into my phone line and was able to successfully call the mobile.

Care & Troubleshooting

If you own one (or are looking to buy) and are facing issues, a common fix is checking the line switch. If you are plugging a UK-model Wild & Wolf phone into a modern Australian or American jack, you may need an RJ11 to standard country-specific adapter to get a dial tone.

No Dial Tone: Check the tone/pulse switch on the bottom of the phone. Modern digital lines usually require "Tone" mode.

Stuck Keys: The push buttons can occasionally stick after years of storage; a careful spray with electronic contact cleaner can resolve it.

Replacement Cords: Standard coiled handset cords (RJ9) and wall cables (RJ11) fit these units if you ever need to replace a worn or damaged cord.
