Vintage Cocktail tray- Japanese Decor 1940s Reverse Painted Glass

 


This delightful serving tray is a decorative item in its own right.

 

This item is a vintage reverse-painted glass serving tray featuring a Japanese-inspired landscape scene with swans and a pagoda, likely produced in the 1940s or 1950s. 

  • Design: The tray has a central glass panel painted from the underside (reverse painting) and a border made of a woven material resembling wicker or rattan.
  • Theme: The artwork depicts a tranquil scene with swans on water, water lilies, and a traditional Japanese garden pagoda.
  • Origin: Similar trays have been identified as produced in the US Zone of Germany during the post-WWII era.

 

Reverse-painted glass, with vinyl-type woven wicker material.

 

Very good condition, some paint is lifting on the edges due to its age.

 

The glass is in good condition with no chips or cracks.

 

The cane is in good vintage condition.

 

The backing is wood and has staining.

 

The tray measures 34.9cm x 21.6cm. It stands 4.6cm tall to the top of the handles.
