- This is a vintage John Sands "The Game of Cap the Hat" board game box, originally released around 1938.
- The game is a running-fight strategy game where players attempt to capture opponents' hats by stacking them.
- The set includes a game board and 16 plastic hats as playing pieces. The box says they are wooden hats.
Later Re-issue Variant: Companies like John Sands and Whitman originally used wooden tokens in the late 1930s and 1940s but transitioned to stackable plastic cones by the 1950s and 1960s. John Sands continued using the old box template while upgrading the components, it is a known mid-century production variant.
